Montréal, 26 avril 2025 – La ville de Dresde semble sourire à Lila Stewart. Médaillée d’or au tremplin de 1 m il y a un an à l’Invitation international, la Saskatchewanaise a récidivé samedi, montant cette fois sur la deuxième marche du podium à ce même événement, dans le groupe A.

Stewart a mis la main sur la médaille d’argent en vertu de son pointage de 382,05, gardant le meilleur pour la fin alors que son dernier plongeon lui a valu une note de 59,80 points, son meilleur de la finale.

« Je suis très fière et heureuse de ma journée ! J’ai été solide lors des qualifications et je voulais maintenir la cadence en finale. Je suis demeurée calme et j’y suis allée un plongeon à la fois. Je suis très fière de mon dernier plongeon, je voulais finir sur une bonne note pour prouver à tout le monde ce dont j’étais capable », a partagé Lila Stewart.

« Je voulais vraiment me concentrer sur ce que je pouvais contrôler, c’est-à-dire, mes propres plongeons. Je pense que ç’a fait une grande différence. Mes attentes étaient hautes en arrivant ici à Dresde, j’ai été capable de bien réussir la majorité de mes plongeons, particulièrement en finale, et ça me rend très fière.

La Tchèque Tereza Jelinkova (394,55 points) a été la seule athlète à devancer Stewart au classement final. L’Allemande Emily Deml (379,65) a complété le podium.

La Canadienne avait terminé au premier rang des qualifications avec une récolte de 373,85 points en début de journée.

Stewart n’a pas été la seule représentante de l’unifolié à atteindre le podium samedi à Dresde. À la plateforme du côté masculin dans le groupe B, Chase Shaw a remporté la médaille de bronze grâce à ses 361,65 points.

Extrêmement constant en finale, Shaw a imité sa coéquipière en conservant son meilleur plongeon pour son dernier passage sur la plateforme de 10 m, récoltant 361,65 points.

L’Ukrainien Nazarii Kononenko (453,55) a remporté l’or devant l’Allemand Louis Aaron Förster (373,95).

Également en action samedi, Blessing Roche et Samuel McCaffrey ont conclu la finale du 3 m synchro au pied du podium avec leurs 268,23 points.

Après un début de séance plus lent, Roche et McCaffrey ont réussi à renverser la vapeur pour terminer à seulement 3,24 points d’une place sur le podium.

Les Italiens ont terminé au premier rang (282,60), devant les Ukrainiens (282,54) et les Allemands (271,47).

Daniela Durevska a de son côté participé à la finale au tremplin de 3 m dans le groupe B où elle s’est classée au huitième rang avec son total de 311,50 points.

Siena Rae Mills, de la Grande-Bretagne a récolté 340,45 points pour monter sur la plus haute marche du podium. L’Ukrainienne Alina Polonets (339,65) a remporté l’argent, alors que l’Australienne Piper Howard (332,90) a pris le troisième rang.

La compétition prendra fin dimanche à Dresde avec la présentation des épreuves du 3 m féminin (groupe A), la plateforme en synchro chez les filles, la plateforme masculine (groupe A) et au tremplin d’un mètre, aussi chez les garçons (groupe B).

Lila Stewart earns another medal in Dresden 

Montréal, April 26, 2025 – The city of Dresden seems to be sweet on Lila Stewart. Gold medallist on the 1m springboard only a year ago at the International Diving Meet, the Saskatchewan native made it a repeat performance on Saturday – this time on the second step of the podium, in Group A competitions.

Stewart earned the silver medal with a score of 382.05; she saved the best for last, as her final dive earned her a score of 59.80, the best result of the final round.

“I’m very proud and happy with my day! I was solid in qualifying, and I really wanted to keep that momentum for the final. I stayed calm and took it one dive at a time. I’m very proud of my last dive, I wanted to finish on a high note to demonstrate what I’m capable of,” shared Lila Stewart.

“I really wanted to focus on what I could control – my own dives. I think that made a big difference for me. My expectations were high coming to Dresden, I was able to do most of my dives well, especially in the final, and that makes me very proud!”

The Czech Republic’s Tereza Jelinkova (394.55 points) ended up with the gold, and was the only athlete to overtake Stewart in the final rankings. Germany’s Emily Deml (379.65) completed the podium with her bronze medal.

The Canadian finished first in qualifying with 373.85 points to kick off her successful day.

Stewart had company on the podium in Dresden on Saturday; in the Group B Men’s platform, Chase Shaw took bronze with 361.65 points.

Extremely consistent throughout the final, Shaw emulated his teammate by performing his best dive as his last effort on the 10m platform, collecting 361.65 points in the process.

Ukraine’s Nazarii Kononenko (453.55) took gold ahead of Germany’s Louis Aaron Förster (373.95).

Also diving into the action Saturday were the duo of Blessing Roche and Samuel McCaffrey, who finished the 3m synchro final just off the podium with their 268.23 points.

After a somewhat slow start to the session, Roche and McCaffrey are turning up the heat, and finished a mere 3.24 points short of a spot on the podium.

The Italian diving duo finished first (282.60), ahead of Team Ukraine (282.54), with Germany’s diving pair (271.47) coming in for bronze.

Daniela Durevska took part in the Group B 3m springboard final, where she came eighth with a total of 311.50 points.

Great Britain’s Siena Rae Mills scored 340.45 points to top the podium in the latter event, where the Ukraine’s Alina Polonets (339.65) took silver, and Australia’s Piper Howard (332.90) came third.
