Montréal, 5 septembre 2023 – En tant que nation hôte des Championnats panaméricains et de l’Océanie 2023, le Canada présentera une forte délégation à cette compétition qui s’amorcera avec la présentation des tournois cadets et juniors du 8 au 10 septembre, au complexe WinSport de Calgary.
Les athlètes d’âge cadet seront sur les tatamis vendredi en lever de rideau de l’événement, tandis que ceux d’âge junior combattront 24 heures plus tard. Les compétitions mixtes par équipe de ces deux catégories seront disputées dimanche pour conclure le premier week-end d’action de ces Championnats panaméricains et de l’Océanie.
Plus d’une centaine d’athlètes provenant d’une dizaine de pays seront présents à Calgary qui présentera aussi les compétitions des athlètes seniors du 15 et 17 septembre.

Cet événement promet d’être un moment mémorable pour les athlètes, les partisans et les passionnés de judo ! », indique Nicolas Gill, directeur général et directeur haute performance de Judo Canada.

Judo Canada est fière d’annoncer les athlètes canadiens qui ont été retenus chez les cadets et les juniors. Les 38 judokas du pays seront menés par un groupe d’entraîneurs expérimentés formé d’Ewan Beaton, Alexandre Emond, Jeremy Le Bris, Sasha Mehmedovic et Vitaly Polyansky qui, à eux cinq, cumulent six participations aux Jeux olympiques à titre d’athlètes.
L’équipe canadienne qui prendra part au volet senior de la compétition sera annoncée le 11 septembre.

Judo Canada – Pan American and Oceania Championships
Team Canada: Ready to rack up medals at home
Montréal, September 5, 2023 – As host nation of the Pan American and Oceania Championships 2023, Canada intends to showcase a mighty delegation at the event, which kicks off with the Cadet and Junior tournaments from September 8 to 10, at Calgary’s WinSport complex.
Cadet-aged athletes will take to the tatami on Friday to open the event, while junior-aged athletes will compete 24 hours later. Mixed team competitions in both categories will be held on Sunday to conclude the first weekend of exciting judo action at these Pan-American and Oceania Championships.
Over one hundred athletes from a dozen countries will be present and participating in Calgary, the city which will also host the Senior class athletes’ competitions from September 15 to 17.

Judo Canada is proud to announce the Canadian athletes who have been selected in the Cadet and Junior categories. The country’s 38 judokas will be led by an experienced coaching team consisting of Ewan Beaton, Alexandre Emond, Jeremy Le Bris, Sasha Mehmedovic and Vitaly Polyansky, who between them have six Olympic Games appearances to their credit.
The Canadian team that will take part in the Senior section of the competition will be announced on September 11.
