Montréal, le 3 mai 2016 – Le président du conseil d’administration de l’Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec), M. Tom Quinn, annonce que M. Gaëtan Robitaille sera le nouveau Président-directeur général de l’organisation à compter du 9 mai prochain. Le conseil d’administration de l’INS Québec a accepté à l’unanimité la recommandation du comité de sélection qui a été formulée à la suite d’un processus rigoureux qui a permis de rencontrer plusieurs candidats de grande valeur.
« Au-delà de sa connaissance de l’organisation, Gaëtan Robitaille nous a convaincus qu’il était le leader dont nous avions besoin à ce moment-ci de notre histoire en raison notamment de sa capacité à mobiliser les gens dans le développement et la réalisation d’une vision organisationnelle, a souligné Tom Quinn. Il a démontré un sens stratégique dans la mise en œuvre de plans d’action. Il saura maintenir le contact et influencer les membres, partenaires et bailleurs de fonds de l’organisation. Il est aussi reconnu comme un joueur d’équipe qui sait travailler avec ses collègues. »

Cadre supérieur sportif bilingue, détenteur d’une maîtrise en administration publique et d’un baccalauréat en éducation physique (concentration en entraînement sportif), Gaëtan Robitaille s’est joint à l’INS Québec en 2010 et a été nommé à Vice-président, Administration et développement des affaires en 2013. Il connait très bien les systèmes sportifs québécois et canadien pour avoir occupé des postes de direction à Hockey-Québec, SPORTSQUÉBEC, Bénévoles Canada et à l’Association canadienne des entraîneurs. Il a été gestionnaire du programme de haute performance féminin de Hockey-Canada de 1998 à 2002, période au cours de laquelle l’équipe nationale a été championne du monde à trois reprises (1999, 2000, 2001) en plus de remporter la médaille d’or olympique des Jeux de Salt Lake City en 2002.

Montreal, May 3, 2016 – Tom Quinn, Chair of the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) Board of Directors, has announced that Gaëtan Robitaille will become the organization’s next President and CEO on May 9. The INS Québec Board of Directors unanimously approved the recommendation made by the selection committee following a comprehensive process that took a number of prestigious candidates into consideration.
“In addition to his knowledge of the organization, Gaëtan Robitaille has proved that he is the leader we need at this stage, particularly due to his ability to mobilize others to create and implement a vision for the organization,” said Tom Quinn. “He has shown a capacity for strategic thinking when implementing action plans, and will be able to maintain relationships with and influence our members, partners and donors. What’s more, he has a reputation as a team player who knows how to work with colleagues.”
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to continue working on what we’ve started over the past few years. It is a privilege to contribute to a project that is so central to the success of high-performance athletes and coaches,” said Mr. Robitaille. “I will have the good fortune to work with a highly talented, relentlessly dedicated team whose passion is inspirational. The contributions of these men and women will allow INS Québec to update its vision and assert itself as the primary force for advancing high-performance sport in Quebec.”
A senior sports administrator, Mr. Robitaille is bilingual and holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a concentration in coaching. He joined INS Québec in 2010 and was appointed Vice-President, Administration and Business Development in 2013. He is very familiar with sport systems in Quebec and Canada, having held management positions at Hockey Québec, SPORTSQUÉBEC, Volunteer Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada. He managed Hockey Canada’s high-performance women’s’ program from 1998 to 2002, helping the national team win the World Championships on three occasions (1999, 2000, and 2001) and bring home a gold medal at the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002.
