Championnats panaméricains des sports aquatiques
Montréal, 16 mai 2025 – Pas une, mais bien deux épreuves attendaient Arnaud Corbeil (CAMO – CDI Montréal) vendredi, aux Championnats panaméricains des sports aquatiques de Medellín, en Colombie. Le jeune plongeur québécois a fait preuve de persévérance, concluant sa journée sur la troisième marche du podium au tremplin de 3 mètres dans la catégorie A chez les garçons.
À sa deuxième sortie du jour à la piscine olympique Cesar Zapata, Corbeil n’a pas montré de baisse de régime et il a récolté un total de 433,75 points, ce qui lui a permis de monter sur le podium derrière les Mexicains David Cio (463,90) et Carlos Parra (453,60).
« Ç’a fait du bien de finir la journée sur une bonne note. J’étais un peu déçu de ma performance chez les seniors plus tôt, mais je voulais absolument prendre ma revanche. Je pensais que ce serait difficile, mais ça ne m’a pas grugé trop d’énergie. Je vise toujours le sommet, mais je suis assez fier de ma médaille de bronze et de ma performance », a confié Corbeil à sa sortie de la piscine.
Également inscrit à cette épreuve, Samuel McCaffrey (PCDC) a récolté 391,80 points pour conclure la compétition en cinquième place.
À peine quelques heures plus tôt, Arnaud Corbeil avait plongé au concours ouvert masculin, où il a pris le septième rang grâce à une récolte de 318,25 points. Cinquième, son coéquipier Emmitt Reesor (TDA – CDI Montréal) a été le meilleur Canadien avec 325,55 points lors de cette épreuve dominée par le Cubain Frank Triana et ses 426,55 points. De son côté, le Montréalais Thomas Ciprick (PCDC – CDI Montréal) s’est classé neuvième avec 361,15 points.
Daniela Durevska et Lila Gokiert remontent sur le podium
Elle aussi en action vendredi, mais chez les filles, l’Albertaine Daniela Durevska (CDI Calgary) a ajouté une deuxième médaille de bronze à sa récolte en catégorie B, cette fois au tremplin de 1 mètre. Elle a obtenu un total de 278,85 points pour monter une fois de plus sur la troisième marche du podium derrière Mia Lobato (329,95) et Lia Lobato (324,25), toutes deux du Mexique.
« Je suis super heureuse de ma médaille, a lancé Durevska en fin de journée. J’avais réussi à atteindre les finales lors de mes deux dernières compétitions, mais je n’avais pas obtenu de médaille. C’est un bel objectif que j’ai maintenant accompli. J’avais énormément confiance en moi-même, je savais que j’étais capable de me rendre sur le podium et je suis extrêmement fière de moi. »
Durevska a ensuite été imitée par sa coéquipière Lila Gokiert (Calgary)en toute fin de journée. L’athlète de l’Alberta a pris part au concours ouvert chez les femmes à la plateforme de 10 mètres où son cumulatif de 274,05 points l’a propulsée vers la troisième marche du podium derrière les Mexicaines Suri Lobato (286,30) et Maria Moreno (283,85).
Il s’agit d’une seconde médaille pour Gokiert qui avait remporté l’or en catégorie A plus tôt cette semaine.
De son côté, Mathilde Laberge (CAMO – CDI Montréal) s’est classée sixième avec 249,75 points.
Les dernières épreuves de plongeon seront présentées samedi, aux Championnats panaméricains des sports aquatiques. Sept athlètes canadiens seront de la partie pour l’occasion.

Montréal, May 16, 2025 – Arnaud Corbeil (CAMO – CDI Montréal) had not one, but two events lined up on Friday at the Pan-American Aquatic Sports Championships in Medellín, Colombia. And after showing great perseverance, the young Québécois ended the day on the third step of the podium in the boys’ Group A 3m springboard contest.
Despite it being his second competition of the day, Corbeil showed no signs of slowing down. His final score of 433.75 points earned him a spot on the podium behind David Cio (463.90) and Carlos Parra (453.60), both of Mexico.
“It felt good to end the day on a high note. I was a bit disappointed with my performance in the seniors category earlier today, so I absolutely wanted to redeem myself. I thought it would be really hard, but in the end, it didn’t drain me of too much energy. Of course, I’m always aiming for the top, but I’m pretty proud of my bronze medal and my performance,” said Corbeil, as he exited the pool.
In the same event, Samuel McCaffrey (PCDC) finished fifth with 391.80 points.
Just a few hours earlier, Corbeil had taken part in the men’s open competition, where he placed seventh with a score of 318.25. His teammate Emmitt Reesor (TDA – CDI Montréal) earned Canada’s top score in that event, finishing fifth with 325.55 points, while Frank Triana of Cuba dominated the roster with 426.55 points. Montréal’s Thomas Ciprick (PCDC – CDI Montréal) placed ninth with 361.15 points.

Also on Friday, Alberta’s Daniela Durevska (CDI Calgary) added a second bronze medal to her haul in Group B, placing third in the girls’ 1m springboard event. She scored a total of 278.85 points to once again climb onto the third step of the podium behind Mexicans Mia Lobato (329.95) and Lia Lobato (324.25).
“I’m super happy with my medal,” exclaimed Durevska, as the day came to a close. “In my last two competitions, I made it to the finals, but I didn’t win any medals. Now I can say that I’ve achieved that goal. I was feeling very confident. I knew I could make it to the podium, and I’m very proud of myself.”
Durevska’s teammate Lila Gokiert (Calgary) followed suit at the end of the day. The athlete from Alberta accumulated 274.05 points in the women’s open 10m platform event, earning the third spot on the podium, behind Mexicans Suri Lobato (286.30) and Maria Moreno (283.85).
It was the second medal of the week for Gokiert, who won gold in Group A on Wednesday.
In the same event, Mathilde Laberge (CAMO – CDI Montréal) finished sixth with 249.75 points.
The diving events at the Pan-American Aquatic Sports Championships will conclude on Saturday. Seven Canadians will be in action.
