At the European Open in Oberwart, in Austria, Canadian judokas didn’t have the same success as Zupancic. Mohab El Nahas had the best day, in which he won his first two bouts, then lost the third.

In the -90 kg category, he won by ippon against Israeli Itay Golan in the first round and by waza-ari against American Matthew Koch in the second round, but was defeated by ippon by Giorgi Papunashvili, from Georgia. In the same category, Louis Krieber-Gagnon was eliminated after his first fight. Danil Neyolov (-81 kg) was also eliminated quickly against Armenian Vartan Khachatryan.
